TotalEnergies Malaysia and ARUS Academy’s Road Safety Initiative

The ‘VIA Safe Mobility Malaysia 2023’ program, a collaborative effort between TotalEnergies Malaysia and ARUS Academy, ended with a resounding success. This year, the program attracted more than 2000 students from across Malaysia and received over 90 posters on how students interpret road safety as part of the competition in the program.

This important initiative is aimed at increasing road safety awareness among school students, and at the same time nurture and empower next generation of young road safety ambassadors to spread awareness in their schools and communities.

Jennifer Li shared that the VIA Safe Mobility program emphasizes the importance of fostering road safety values from a young age. She said, “TotalEnergies is a multi-energy company that provides low-carbon energy & mobility solutions. Part of our company’s sustainable development efforts is to energize lives and communities we operate in by contributing to the safety and well-being of the community through road safety initiatives. The VIA Safe Mobility Program holds a special place in our hearts as it reflects our commitment to nurturing responsible citizens and promoting road safety. The teachings of the initiative go beyond the boundaries of the classroom; it extends to the very roads the students traverse daily and the communities they call home. We are proud of the impact we've made and look forward to the continued success of these young ambassadors in shaping a safer future for their peers and communities together with ARUS Academy as our partner.”

Since the rollout of this program in July 2022, the VIA Safe Mobility Malaysia program has positively engaged 43,150 students aged from 10 to 16 years old in Malaysia. In 2023 alone, this program has been deployed in 137 schools across Malaysia, with 42 schools participating in the road safety poster drawing competition. The closing ceremony not only celebrated the remarkable achievements of the winners of the VIA Safe Mobility Malaysia 2023 poster competition but also featured insightful presentations by student ambassadors. These young minds shared their plans to drive change in road safety awareness within schools.

Alina Amir, CEO and Co-Founder of ARUS Academy, shared her perspective, "ARUS Academy is honoured to collaborate with TotalEnergies Malaysia in the VIA Safe Mobility Program. Empowering youth to become road safety ambassadors is not just about protecting lives today but ensuring a safer tomorrow. The dedication shown by the students and the support from all stakeholders are a testament to the program's success."

The VIA Safe Mobility Malaysia 2023 program stands as a testament to the power of collaboration and education in creating positive change. TotalEnergies Malaysia and ARUS Academy extend their congratulations to the three national winners of the poster drawing competition.
